Two Plymouth Residents Killed, Others Injured in Ohio Turnpike Crash

Two Plymouth residents were killed Monday in a crash on the Ohio Turnpike. WTOL-TV reports that Refugio Nunez-Pena, 39, of Plymouth, was driving a passenger vehicle westbound in Fulton County, Ohio, when an eastbound tractor-trailer traveled across the median and hit the vehicle head-on.

Nunez-Pena, his front-seat passenger, Simone Nunez, 42, of Plymouth, and the truck driver, Kenneth Trowbridge, 29, of South Bend, were all reportedly killed. A 15-year-old in the passenger vehicle was taken to a hospital with critical injuries. An injury attorney in Bethesda stated that the injured and the deceased’s family deserve compensation. The procedures should begin soon.

Meanwhile, the truck’s box trailer reportedly detached and overturned in the westbound lanes, hitting another passenger car. Its driver, Isabella Nunez, 18, of Plymouth, wasn’t injured, but her two passengers, Trevor Fisher, 19, and a nine-year-old, were taken to a hospital with minor injuries. Another truck reportedly tried to avoid the tractor and swerved off the roadway, but its driver wasn’t hurt. WTOL says Ohio State Troopers continue to investigate the crash, but alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
