MC Coroner Releases Additional Details Regarding Fatal Crash on U.S. 30

An accident involving a semi tanker-truck and a small passenger car that occurred in the area of U.S. 30 and Beech Road in Marshall County this afternoon resulted in a fatality.

Marshall County Coroner John Grolich stated that the next of kin has been notified and the individual was identified as 62-year old Bourbon resident Velma Shupp.  

According to information provided by Grolich and dispatch officials, the preliminary investigation revealed that Shupp was in her car on Beech Road when she attempted to pull onto U.S. 30. Her vehicle entered the path of an oncoming tanker truck and was struck on the passenger side.

A MedFlight helicopter was initially dispatched to the scene, however, it was canceled once responders discovered that Shupp had passed away.

No details were presented about the status of the truck driver. If authorities provide any more information, it will be released.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department responded to the scene along with the Indiana State Police and Bourbon Fire Department as well as Etna Green Fire Department and EMS out of Kosciusko County.
