The rainy weather has put a damper on some ongoing paving and sidewalk projects in the City of Plymouth.
Plymouth Utility Superintendent Donnie Davidson told the Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members Monday night that while the contractors have been working on the Candy Lane Storm Sewer Project during rain showers, paving is experiencing delays.
“Lincolnway East is ready for asphalt, but due to the rain the subcontractor for Selge [Construction], Phend and Brown, their schedule has been pushed back,” said Davidson. “The tentative date for paving of Lincolnway is May 20.”
For the sake of safety and quality of the job, the board members approved Davidson’s recommendation to keep Lincolnway East closed until the paving portion of the project can be done.
Davidson noted that 2,400 feet of the 36 inch pipe is installed with only 500 feet remaining. The pipe should be to the pond by the end of the week.
Street Superintendent Jim Marquardt explained that the last of the concrete was poured Monday for sidewalks on the north side of the Marshall County Courthouse and at St. Michael’s School on Madison Street. Paving is at a standstill at the moment, but it could resume yet this week.
