Window Replacement Project at Senior Center in Bremen Discussed

The Bremen Town Council members will gather a bit more information about a window company before moving forward with a project at the Senior Center.

Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy explained to the town council members Monday afternoon that 31 single-pane windows need to be replaced in the building.  They are painted shut and are in terrible condition.  Companies with a good record of work, like https://www.universalwindowssyracuse.com/, are considered, and the decision will be based on many factors.

Apart from learning how to choose commercial window film, he obtained three quotes from companies to install white double-paned, vinyl-trimmed windows with screens.

Champion Windows gave Weldy a quote of $30,848, Quality Windows presented a quote of $22,250 and Window World submitted a figure of $12,255.

Weldy wasn’t sure if the funds were available for the project and will ask Clerk-Treasurer Janet Anglemyer what options are available.  The town could seek a 50/50 grant for the project, but Weldy said it’s unlikely the town would be awarded the grant.

He recommended going with the lowest quote from Window World.  He mentioned that the project should be done this year ahead of next year’s downtown revitalization project.

Town Council President Michael Leman asked for more information about the company with the lowest quote before approving the quote.  The town council members agreed and will consider a quote during their next meeting.
