Walkerton Man Sentenced on Charge of Dealing in Methamphetamine

Mark Lawayne Griffith

A Walkerton man will spend time in prison after pleading guilty in a plea agreement with the State to a Level 2 Felony charge of dealing in methamphetamine.

Mark Lawayne Griffin, 58, admitted in a Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 hearing that he delivered 10 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant in Lapaz working with the Marshall County Undercover Narcotics Investigation Team (UNIT), according to Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman.  Chipman added that the sale was put together by another individual while Griffin completed the transaction with delivery of the product and receipt of money for the methamphetamine.

Chipman said the case began in 2017 when the confidential informant began the investigation into drug transactions taking place in Marshall County.  The case ended on April 4 when Griffin was sentenced to seven years in the Indiana Department of Corrections per the terms of the plea agreement negotiated by Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney Tami Napier and Defense Attorney Lindsay Shively.  One pending misdemeanor case was dismissed in Marshall County Superior Court No. 2 as part of the agreement.

Chipman commended the work done by the UNIT detectives involved in the investigation.
