Triton Elementary School Officials Inform School Board about Team-Building “Family Groups” Initiative

A team-building initiative that teaches leadership and collaboration skills to Triton Elementary School students was highlighted when school board members met Monday night.

Superintendent Jeremy Riffle said that Elementary School officials shared some details about the school’s “family groups” which were established prior to spring break this year.

Riffle stated, “Every kid in the building is put into what we consider a ‘family’ and they meet three times leading up to our all-school field day which also ends up being their team.”

Superintendent Riffle said that this initiative not only provides older children with a chance to build leadership skills but it also helps make all the students more aware of the resources that are available to them.

He explained, “We try to encourage our older kiddos in the elementary to be leaders to the younger kids and surround our kids with resources. They get to know more people and different teachers as well.”

Riffle continued, “So it just adds people to their life that they can trust or confide in if needed.”

The Triton Elementary School family groups will meet next on Tuesday, June 3rd and the all-school filed day will take place the following day.
