The Town of Bremen’s trash ordinance will be updated to better regulate the amount and size of trash on a resident’s property.
Town Attorney Anthony Wagner explained to the Bremen Town Council on Monday that the current ordinance states that trash can’t be left on a property, or pile up on a public right-of-way. The code also stipulates that it can’t be more than 30 or 60 gallons of trash.
Wagner wants to make it more practical for Director of Operations Trend Weldy to cite a public nuisance. He will make it clearer so items such as unwanted couches are not left outside as unwanted property, or trash.
There are two current homeowners in violation of the ordinance and will be enforced under the current code. The updated ordinance is expected to be up for council consideration during the next meeting on Monday, April 22.
