The Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Initiative representatives submitted the Letter of Intent on April 5 to state officials overseeing the Regional Stellar Communities Designation Program.
Culver Town Council President Ginny Bess Munroe said this year’s application has a specific focus.
“The focus this year is creating high quality hometowns and we’re very much focused on quality of life. Part of the plan is to do a quality of life plan so we’ll be engaging in each of the communities and doing public input sessions,” said Munroe.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said a canoe and kayak launch is a new project included for Bremen in this year’s application. He said the town owns land on both sides of the river on either end of town.
“We could put one on each side of town if we wanted to do so. I think it would be great if we put one out there. You could take a half hour float to Plymouth. Sometimes you’re not going to be able to float because the river’s not high enough, but most of the time you will. The other side you can take a four hour float to Plymouth. That’s going to be a complimentary project on our Stellar project,” commented Weldy.
The gathering space project remains on the list as well as the swimming pool project in Bremen.
Finalist notification should be made by the end of April.
