Student Sculptures will be on Sale for a Good Cause at Tonight’s “Clay for Cancer” Event

Students at the Weidner School of Inquiry have been putting their sculpting skills to work in order to help raise money for the Cancer Association of Marshall County.

Tonight, at the 7th annual “Clay for Cancer” event, community members will have the chance to purchase student made sculptures and all the proceeds raised will make a difference to community members battling the affliction.

The proceeds raised during the “Clay for Cancer” art shows in 2017 and 2018 total about $2,652.

According to Plymouth Community Schools Marketing Director Judy Lykoswki, close to 100 first-year students in Haley Church and Laura Unsicker’s BioArt classes will be taking part in this year’s event.

Since the start of the year, each student has been busy crafting a one-of-a-kind clay piece of art that will be available by silent auction bidding. Individuals interested in participating in the auction are asked to bring cash or their check book.

Throughout the second semester, students worked in groups to study various types of cancers and each group has prepared a gallery style presentation about the topic they’ve been researching.

The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. and the call for final bids will be taken at 6:30 p.m. Those attending are asked to enter through the Plymouth High School north entrance, door #5.
