Plymouth City Council Adopts Contractor Registration Ordinance

There is an ordinance now in effect in the City of Plymouth that requires contractors to register with Building Commissioner Keith Hammonds.

The ordinance states that the contractor shall provide a certificate of insurance showing general liability coverage, proof of workers’ compensation insurance, if applicable, or duly filed Affidavit or Independent Contractor status with the State of Indiana.

The contractor will also pay an annual registration fee which will be in effect for a full calendar year from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31.  The fee for contractors registering with the city for the first time will be $75 and then $50 for each subsequent year.

Registration may be denied if the contractor refuses to comply with the building code or other applicable ordinances after having received a written notice of said violation during the previous year.

The Plymouth City Council suspended the rules and approved the ordinance on all three readings.
