Marshall County Highway Superintendent Jason Peters discussed recent weather events with the commissioners Monday morning.
He said the crews have been treating icy roads, but believes that there will be enough salt mix to carry the county through any remaining weather events in March and April.
The recent windy weather caused some issues with county roads.
“On the 24th, we roughly had 26 trees, numerous limbs, three stop signs, and one railroad sign down,” said Peters. “One of the big things that we had down was telephone lines on 9A Road. A tree blew over and took down a pole and the lines. We contacted CenturyLink and they came out and looked at it. We cut the pole to get the lines off the road and they had a crew come out and put the poles back up that night.”
Other than that, Peters said crews remain busy with projects.
“Basically, we’ve just been working on patching, cleaning up trees in a few yards, and we had tile down on 20A Road and Pine that blew out because it was causing flooding on the road. We’re putting together a debris list and trees that REMC to possibly look at that are involved in power lines.”
