Marshall County Crash Claims Life

A Tippecanoe man lost his life in a car accident Sunday evening.

According to Marshall County Coroner John Grolich, the accident occurred near 2838 18B Road in Tippecanoe.  When emergency personnel arrived at the scene, they found that a pickup truck had struck a utility pole.  The pole broke off and caused a power outage for customers in the area, according to the report.

Grolich said the driver was identified as 55-year-old James Conklin.  He was pronounced dead at the scene by medics from Lutheran EMS.

A passenger in the vehicle was not injured.

Grolich noted that Conklin was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation with the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and Marshall County Coroner’s Office.  Deputy Coroner Marc Felke, Tippecanoe Township Fire Department, Lutheran EMS, and the Indiana State Police were also at the scene.
