The Indiana Department of Education named Four Star Schools on Friday for the 2017-2018 school year.
In all, 234 schools were designated with the distinction. John Glenn High School in Walkerton was included in that list.
To be named a Four Star School, a school must have received an “A” on the State’s A-F Accountability system for that school year and at least 95 percent of students were tested in the ISTEP English/Language Arts and Math and had a high percentage of pass rates in those tests.
According to the Department of Education, the Four Star School Award has been in existence for nearly 30 years and signifies a pursuit of academic excellence among both the students and the administration of a school.
