The Bourbon Public Library received a significant donation for their Summer Discovery Program during this week’s town council meeting.
A $500 donation for the program was approved when members met on Tuesday.
Library Director Nic Treber shared a little bit about the program that town officials were helping out with their contribution.
He explained, “It’s a way for us to get the community involved in literacy initiatives…and it’s just a good way to keep the kids involved in educational activities during the summer.
Director Treber said he’s never approached the council with a significant dollar amount, but they’ve consistently provided a $300 donation in past years. However, this year they increased their contribution by $200.
Treber shared, “They said during the meeting that they were really proud of the Library for stepping up and so they decided to step up with their donation this year so that was amazing and I can’t thank the town council enough for that.
He noted that the money will be utilized to pay for craft supplies and other materials as well as prizes and educational entertainment.
