Traffic Stop Leads to Armed Standoff in Plymouth

An armed standoff in Plymouth ended with no injuries Wednesday morning. Plymouth Police say it happened around 9:45 a.m. in the area of Western Avenue and Hoham Drive. Officers say they pulled over a Honda due to a report of a possible intoxicated driver, and the driver displayed a handgun and threatened to harm himself.

The officers say they took a defensive position and tried to communicate with the man, identified as Brad A. Morcombe, 47, of Plymouth. Eventually, an Indiana State Police detective was reportedly able to make telephone contact with Morcombe and negotiated with him until he agreed to surrender.

No one else was in the car during the standoff, according to the police report. Officers say Morcombe was taken for a psychological evaluation, and a report will be filed with the Marshall County Prosecutor’s Office.

Plymouth Police were assisted by Plymouth EMS, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, Indiana State Police, and Indiana State Police ERT.
