The Marshall County Crossroads Regional Stellar Communities Designation effort will move forward this year.
Marshall County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO Jerry Chavez said they met with OCRA officials in January to gather feedback on last year’s application and plan to make some adjustments and submit another application this year.
The organization has until April 5 to submit an application.
Last year’s application missed the designation, but some municipalities are working toward projects included in the 2018 application.
According to last year’s application, the Town of Argos submitted plans for the installation of a series of trails, a housing development and the addition of more sidewalks. The Town of Bourbon submitted plans for a housing development to the east of the high school and an economic development project to the north of town, just south of U.S. 30. The Town of Bremen hopes to build a new pool and develop a community gathering space. The Town of Culver anticipated the designation to present funds to complete the third phase of the Lake Maxinkuckee bike and walking trail. Town of Lapaz officials wanted to extend public infrastructure to the proposed development parcels. The City of Plymouth included the renovation of the Rees Theater.
Marshall County officials are looking to increase workforce recruitment and a branding and marketing plan.
