Marshall County Clerk Deb VanDeMark updated the Election Board members this week that LaPaz Clerk-Treasurer Susan Albert is expected to resign from her position on April 30, 2019.
The Democratic Party will have to call a caucus to find her replacement. That position will be open on the November Municipal General Election ballot and candidates may file for that position up until Aug. 1. A town convention will then be called to determine single party candidates to advance to the November ballot.
Meanwhile, since the last election, there was difficulty finding members to serve on the Bourbon Township Advisory Board and Tippecanoe Township Advisory Board. No candidates had filed in the last election. Because of this, the candidates who had been serving in those positions carried over for a new term. However, all of the members resigned from their Advisory Board seats. Since Tuesday’s meeting, Clerk Deb VanDeMark indicated that all appointments have been filled.
