Former Culver Town Council member David Beggs was in Marshall County Superior Court No. 1 on Tuesday morning to appear on a Grand Jury indictment of arson as a Level 6 Felony.
In a press conference held on Friday, Feb. 8, Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman said Beggs allegedly committed arson by burning down a vacant rental property at 115 W. Marmont Street in Culver on July 13, 2017.
The rental property was in the name of David A. Beggs and Susan Beggs.
He surrendered and was booked into the Marshall County Jail on Friday morning where he immediately posted bond.
During the initial hearing held Tuesday morning, Beggs pleaded not guilty to the charge of arson. His attorney is James Clevenger. His pretrial conference is set for Feb. 27, and he is ordered to appear for a status conference hearing on May 3 in Marshall County Superior Court No. 1.
