Bremen Public Schools to Start Providing Stipends to Help Retain Dual-Credit Teachers

Bremen Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Jim White said that a new procedure for providing stipends to dual-credit teachers was considered during last week’s school board meeting.

Dr. White explained, “We’re trying to do a supplemental payment that’s outside of our master contract to help retain our dual credit teachers because they have a lot of opportunities to go elsewhere with the credentials they have.”

According to Dr. White, any teacher who is qualified to teach a dual-credit course will be given a $300 stipend. They will also be provided with an additional $400 for each class they teach.

School Board members provided unanimous approval to allow dual-credit teachers to receive the specified stipends.  Dr. White noted that the money to fund the stipends is coming from Title II funds.
