Argos School Board Approves Dates for Summer School and Free Lunch Program

Argos School Board members finalized plans for the 2019 Summer School Program when they met earlier this month.

According to Superintendent Ned Speicher, summer school will run from June 3rd through the 27th.

He said there will be various opportunities for students at every grade level.

In addition to hosting summer school in the month of June, Argos Community Schools will also be serving as a site for the United States Department of Agriculture’s Summer Food Service Program.

Speicher explained, “It will be lunch only but anyone 18 or younger in the Argos community can come on in and get a free lunch during that time.”

The free lunch program will run concurrently with the corporation’s summer school classes. Superintendent Speicher said the meals will be served from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m.

He noted that unlike the free or reduced lunches that are served during the school year, all community members who meet the age requirement are eligible for this program, regardless of their family’s income status.
