Plymouth Mayor Faces Republican Primary Challenge

Seven Republicans filed to run for office in the City of Plymouth on the first day of filing Wednesday. Mayor Mark Senter faces a primary challenge from Ben Fisher.

Senter feels his administration has done a lot for the city in the past 11-and-a-half years. “We’ve got a lot of positivity right now in the City of Plymouth, including new businesses coming to town that I really can’t talk about right now,” he says. “But we also have a lot of stuff downtown that’s going on, great positive stuff, the finishing of two bridges here in the city, along with the trails. And I’m just real happy with the way things are going.”

Meanwhile, Clerk-Treasurer Jeanine Xaver, District 1 City Council Member Duane Culp, and District 2 City Council Member Don Ecker Jr. all filed to run for reelection. At-Large Council Member Bill Walters and District 4 Council Member Randy Longanecker are also running for full terms. They both joined the council as mid-term replacements.

The Marshall County Clerk’s Office reports that no one had filed for the open town council and clerk-treasurer positions in Argos, Bremen, Bourbon, Culver, and LaPaz, as of Wednesday afternoon. Candidate filing continues until February 8.
