Bremen Town Attorney Anthony Wagner is getting closer to acquiring a property on Jackson Street for demolition.
Wagner told the Bremen Town Council members on Monday that he will be getting in contact with the last creditor to prohibit the foreclosure sale at 121 Jackson Street. It is the goal of the town council to buy property in order to demolish the structure there and rehabilitate the area to include a gathering space.
If the purchase goes forward, the council members hope to build a roofed pavilion there in order to include another spot in town with a sheltered place for the farmer’s market or another location for community events. The project was a part of the county’s Regional Stellar Communities Designation application, but the county was not selected as a designee. Even though the county missed the designation, Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the council is determined to move forward with the project.
