Plymouth School Board Approves Pay Raises for Administrators, Classified Staff

More Plymouth school employees are getting a raise. The school board Tuesday agreed to increase the yearly pay for eligible administrators and salaried classified employees by $629. “It is the equivalent dollar amount that we were able to negotiate for teachers through that process,” Superintendent Andy Hartley explained. Hourly classified employees will get a 25-cent-per-hour raise.

Hartley said the school corporation is also bumping up pay for substitute teachers, as part of the changes to the classified conditions of employment. “I’m recommending increasing what we pay substitutes by five dollars a day and adding a new category within substitutes for retired teachers who wish to come back and substitute,” he said.

Under the new structure, retired teachers who come back as subs will be paid $100 per day. Other substitute teachers with a bachelor’s degree will get $85 per day, while those with no bachelor’s degree will be paid $80 a day.
