Argos Town Council members reviewed the Salary Ordinance for 2019 when they met last week.
There are some major differences between the salary ordinance for next year and the one that was approved in the past, according to Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney. One of the most noticeable changes is the length.
Mullaney said in the past, the ordinance was approximately 2 pages long. However, this year town officials received assistance from the company New Focus HR while they were creating it. By including the recommendations that were made, Mullaney said the ordinance is now about 11 pages long.
She noted, “We learned that you have to include anything the employees are entitled to. Anything that the employees get has to be listed in the ordinance.”
She said those specific details can include things such as uniforms, particular stipends and anything else that would be provided to an employee on behalf of the town.
The ordinance was simply presented last week so no official actions were taken at the time. Members were told to contact Clerk-Treasurer Mullaney if they had any questions or suggestions. It will be up for adoption at the council’s next meeting on Wednesday, December 19th.
