The Bremen Town Council members approved the first reading of an ordinance that establishes stormwater rates for the purpose of stormwater management.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2019 a residential stormwater user will pay a proposed $3.00 monthly charge while commercial, small institutional and governmental customers will pay $6.00. Industrial and large institutional customers will pay a $30.00 monthly charge.
The proposed stormwater rates effective on Jan. 1, 2020 will be $4.00 for residential customers while commercial, small institutional and governmental customers will pay $8.00. Industrial and large institutional customers will pay a $40.00 monthly charge. On Jan. 1, 2021, residential customers will pay $5.00 while commercial, small institutional and governmental customers will pay $10.00. Industrial and large institutional customers will pay a $50.00 monthly charge, as outlined in the ordinance.
According to the ordinance, of which wording may be amended, the fees will help address storm water needs, repair, replacement, planning, improvement, operation, regulation, and maintenance of the existing and future stormwater system of the Town of Bremen.
The ordinance will likely be presented in a public hearing as fees are introduced in the document.
