The Bremen Town Council members will soon review a construction standards document.
Street Superintendent Alex Mikel said he and Wastewater Superintendent Matt Cunningham are viewing the draft document that they received from JPR and will soon provide it to the council for eventual approval.
“What that does is cover storm, water, wastewater, streets, and right-of-ways,” said Mikel. “If something is being built in the right-of-way, whether we sub work out or a contractor comes in for a residential project and they’re working in the right-of-way, we have certain standards they have to meet. This new construction standards document will cover all of this. We have one. It’s about 50 years old so they’re updating it.”
The document will include specific items such as the town’s specifications on catch basins, thickness of asphalt, and more. He said corrections are being made and will be presented in a future meeting.
