The Plymouth Board of Public Works and Safety members will review a Complete Streets Policy drafted by the Discover Plymouth organization.
Organization representative Allie Shook explained that the document asks that city officials take into consideration foot and bicycle traffic when introducing new buildings, sidewalks, or road infrastructure. That’s in addition to regular transportation needs.
It calls for safe and accessible multimodal options for people traveling between home, work, school, recreation, and retail. It also asks for mobility options for persons of limited income and encourages a community focused on healthy living, beautification, and economic development which attracts new people and businesses.
Plan Director Ralph Booker said that the policy will also be a part of the zoning ordinances.
The policy will be up for board approval later this month. A copy of the draft policy can be found here: Plymouth CS draft
