The Marshall County Election Board members voted to certify the 2018 General Election in a meeting on Friday afternoon.
Before the election was certified, the board members took time to review all of the provisional ballots. All but one was rejected. That ballot was officially counted, but did not change the outcome of any races.
Many of the rejected ballots were from registered voters from other counties. Other rejected ballots were due to no initials on the ballot, canceled voter registration, and one voter had an expired ID. The voter could have come into the clerk’s office by noon on Friday, Nov. 16 so the ID could be verified, but the voter did not appear.
Sixteen absentee ballots were rejected. Eight of them arrived by mail one day after Election Day and another eight arrived in days following the election.
With that, the board voted unanimously to certify the General Election ballots and results.
