John Glenn School Board to Review 2019-2020 School Calendar

The John Glenn School Board members reviewed the 2019-2020 school calendar when it was presented at their most recent meeting.

Superintendent Richard Reese said he is consulting with the Teacher’s Association for final input before the school board formally approves the calendar. It is similar to this year’s calendar.

Board member Jeff Johnson asked Reese if any representatives on the Teacher’s Association had any opinions on offering eLearning as a way to continue to provide education on a snow day or other type of reason school may be closed for the day.

“I always really worry about special education and lower elementary,” said Reese. “The high school could do that in a second and provide quality instruction and all of those things. And I really am concerned about the ones who call off ‘today’ and say today is an eLearning day. If you call off today and say we’re going to have an eLearning day on Saturday and our teachers would be available or whatever that’s another thing. It depends on how that’s all organized.”

Reese added that the discussion could take a more proactive turn with a new superintendent set to take over on July 1, 2019.

Next year’s school calendar will be up for board approval at the second meeting in December. It will be released following the board’s approval.
