The John Glenn School Board members unanimously approved the Teacher Appreciation Grant Policy at their meeting last week.
Superintendent Richard Reese said 102 teachers within the corporation qualified for stipends provided by the state. The corporation received a total of $57,000 to be disbursed among those teachers. Those evaluated as highly effective teachers received $532 last week while effective teachers received $426. The teachers who were rated as highly effective received 25 percent more than those rated as effective per the state guidelines.
The policy does not include the 20 new teachers hired into the corporation for the 2017-2018 school year and it doesn’t apply to retired teachers from that same school year.
