Argos Police Department Welcomes Two New Full-Time Officers, Open Position Still Available

The Argos Police Department has two new full-time officers on the force. Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney shared that Bradley Howe and Aaron Yeargin recently filled some open full-time positions. She noted that the department is still taking applications for an additional officer now through Tuesday, November 20th.

According to information provided on the Town’s official website, academy training is recommended but it is not a requirement. The starting probationary pay for a new, non-certified, officer is $35,330 while Academy-certified officers receive $46,672 per year.

There are a few minimum qualifications that an applicant must meet to be considered for the position. Applicants must be a United States citizen and possess a valid driver’s license from their state of residence.

They’re also required to have to have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Those with a dishonorable discharge from the military are not eligible to apply and potential hires cannot have a misdemeanor conviction involving domestic violence or any kind of felony conviction.

Additionally, the Police Executive Research Forum (PERF) has a requirement that states an individual must be 21 years old to apply and they can not have reached their 36th birthday by the date of appointment.
