Urey Middle School seventh grade students in Walkerton recently spent the day at Manchester College to get an idea about classes, general admission and tuition costs. The students also got a tour of the campus and were able to ask questions about college experiences from Manchester students.
The eighth grade students last week visited IUSB and Ivy Tech-South Bend to see the programs and areas of study that are offered in post-secondary education. They experienced a Health Education Class Lab hosted by a college professor.
In addition, 28 eighth graders visited seven different career and technical programs through the North Central Area Vocational Cooperative as they continue to explore career pathways. They learned more about Building Trades, Health Science, Precision Machining, Welding, Automation and Robotics, Auto Repair and Mechanics, and Cosmotology.
The experiences were made possible by College Go Week and the Lilly Comprehensive Counseling Grant.
