During last week’s Argos Town Council meeting, officials discussed the possibility of hosting summer events similar to the “Food Truck Fridays” held in Bourbon.
Library Director Jane Hall reminded the council members that the possibility of a “TGIF Argos” event has been brought up in the past and there is a committee of organizers assembled.
She explained that the plan was to do it last summer but due to a combination of health complications and personal obligations, the members were unable to get things organized in time.
Hall told the council last Wednesday that event organizers have expressed an interest in preparing things so they’ll be ready to hold these events next summer.
One thing Hall discussed was establishing a usable electrical hook-up. She noted that she was informed there is a pole near the library that could be utilized for that purpose if vendors require power during the event.
Another thing that the event planners will need to look into before next year is insurance.
In the past, they discussed having a sponsoring agency that would have liability insurance to cover the event so the Town wouldn’t be solely accountable. Director Hall also mentioned that they could make vendors aware that anything that happens as a result of their products would be their responsibility.
The council members indicated that they are on board with the idea and said the people who are involved should be taking steps to make sure this will be possible by next summer.
Though nothing has been set officially, Hall said she thinks the whole ‘TGIF Argos’ series would most likely run from June through October and the events would be held on the fourth Friday of each month.
