The John Glenn School Board members are expected to meet in Executive Session on Monday, Oct. 15 to interview candidates for the Superintendent’s position.
Superintendent Richard Reese reminded the board members on Tuesday night that a representative from the University Search Team, comprised of members from Ball State University, Indiana University, Purdue University and Indiana State University, will be a part of the Executive Session. He stressed that while the University Search Team is helping the board with criteria and other aspects of the search, the ultimate hiring decision will be up to the board.
A definitive number of applicants hasn’t been released, but it is estimated that about a dozen people have applied for the superintendent’s position. It is the hope of the board to have a candidate in place by the end of the year so the new superintendent has time to get acclimated to the position by the time Reese retires next year.
Reese says he intends to retire at the end of June in 2019. He hasn’t formally presented his retirement for board approval. He said that is coming up in a future meeting.
