The Indiana State Department of Health recently visited the John Glenn School Corporation.
The overall visit was positive, aside from a slight issue at two of the buildings.
The Urey Middle School Cafeteria had a perfect score. Principal Mark Maudlin said the concession stand was inspected for the first time and one machine was cleaned as a result of the inspection.
Superintendent Richard Reese noted that air quality issues were reported at the North Liberty Elementary School. The maintenance department used a chemical to unclog a drain over the weekend and there was a “slight smell” inside the building when students returned to school. When the health department visited, Reese indicated that the air quality was checked and it was well within the safe perimeters and no harm was posed to students.
No other notations about the health department’s visit were delivered during the school board meeting.
