The Marshall County Humane Society ‘Bark in the Park’ event is almost here!
Community members and their furry four-legged friends are invited to Centennial Park on Sunday, October 7th for this annual fundraising event. All proceeds go to assist the homeless animals that the Humane Society cares for.
When you pledge at least $25, you’ll get an event T-Shirt. Additional t-shirts will be available for $15 the day of the event, while supplies last. Pledge sheets can be picked up at vet clinics, grooming salons and the shelter. You can also make your pledge on Sunday.
Registration starts at 1 p.m. EST at the Friar Pavilion, next to the tennis courts. The event is expected to wrap up around 3 p.m.
Event organizers say that in addition to walking the beautifully paved trails at the park, participants have a chance to enter fun contests to win prizes. The contests include most pledges, best costume, most beautiful female dog, most handsome male dog, best trick, most vocal, cutest puppy under-6 months-old, largest dog and smallest dog.
This year there is a new contest category. Rather than having the owner look-a-like contest, they’ll be having a Mayor Mark Senter look-a-like contest.
Some rules to keep in mind before attending the event is that all dogs must be up-to-date on their shots and they have to have a current ID tag.
Dogs should be socialized and they must remain on a leash at all times. Flexi-Leads and shock collars are now allowed. Owners are required to pick up after their pets and female dogs that are ‘in-season’ will not be permitted.
