The Bremen Town Council members considered a personal property tax abatement request from Summit Manufacturing.
Bremen Director of Operations Trend Weldy said the tax abatement will help officials purchase some equipment.
“The company is purchasing a vertical mill machine,” explained Weldy. “It’s $85,276 and he’s asking for a tax abatement. He says he has to buy these things just to keep up with the CNC business. It’s a small business so he has to do that. I’m asking that you guys consider that.”
Weldy acknowledged that it is a five-year tax abatement. No new employees will be hired.
The town council unanimously approved a resolution granting the personal property tax abatement request.
