After consulting with a grant writer, Argos Town Council members were informed about an OCRA grant available for 90/10 match that could be utilized for a possible new Fire and EMS building.
Clerk-Treasurer Lisa Mullaney said that the town has been working with Shannon McLeod from Priority Project Resources.
As a reminder, McLeod is the grant writer who assisted County officials with securing a $500,000 grant for the construction of a multi-purpose community building at the 4-H Fairgrounds in Argos.
Part of the process of obtaining this grant is that the Town would need to have an income survey done. They’d also need to hire an architect to get some initial plans drawn up.
Councilman Charles Snead reportedly met with representatives from EMS and the Fire Department recently to discuss potential funding for those requirements.
The officials confirmed that there is $20,000 of unused capital project funds in the 2018 budget that could be utilized for that purpose. It was also noted that a portion of that money will count toward that match.
When council members met last Wednesday, they voted to use those available funds to proceed with the income survey and architect hire.
Mullaney said they’re going to attempt to obtain this funding during the next grant round in April. However, if any amendments need to be made to their grant applications, she said they will have another chance to apply during an August round.
