Two people were taken to area hospitals after a Monday morning accident at the intersection of State Road 8 and State Road 17 in Marshall County.
According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department, a semi driven by 34-year-old Johnbosco Azubuike, of Detroit, was turning north onto State Road 17 off of State Road 8 when 33-year-old John T. Hoyo, Jr., of Valparaiso, could not avoid a collision with the semi as it turned into his path as he traveled south on State Road 17. Hoyo, Jr. was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated. He was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend while Azubuike was taken to the St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Plymouth for unspecified injuries.
The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department was assisted at the scene by the Plymouth Fire Department, Plymouth EMS, Indiana State Police, and INDOT.
