The Plymouth School Board will hold a public hearing on its 2019 budget proposal tonight. A major change in next year’s budget is the consolidation of four of the school corporation’s funds into two, as part of Indiana’s overhaul of the school funding structure.
The General Fund will be replaced with the Education Fund. The Capital Projects, Transportation, and Bus Replacement funds will be combined into an Operations Fund. The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s 2019 budget proposal calls for an Education Fund of just over $20 million and an Operations Fund of just over $9 million. Comments will also be taken tonight on the corporation’s capital projects and bus replacement plans.
Tonight’s budget hearing will be held in the Plymouth Schools Administration Building, following the school board’s 7:00 p.m. regular meeting. During the regular session, board members will consider updates to policies on anti-harassment, nondiscrimination, and the employment of substitute teachers, among others. They’ll also get an update on the construction of the new Lincoln Junior High School.
