Plymouth School Board Holds Public Hearing on 2019 Budget Proposal

The Plymouth Community School Corporation’s 2019 budget proposal drew no comments or concerns from the public Tuesday. Business Manager Kandi Tinkey reviewed the various parts of the budget, along with the capital projects and bus replacement plans, during a public hearing held by the school board.

She explained that the total proposed budget adds up to about $35 million. The Education Fund, which is where teacher salaries will come out of, makes up just over $20 million of that.

The bus replacement plan calls for Plymouth Schools to purchase three new buses each year. Tinkey said school corporations are now only required to put together a five-year plan for bus replacement, but the corporation remains on a 12-year replacement cycle, unless a bus experiences severe problems.

The Plymouth School Board will vote on the 2019 budget, along with the capital projects and bus replacement plans, at its October 2 meeting.
