Plymouth Board of Works members considered a collections agency switch when they met Monday night.
City Attorney Sean Surrisi asked the board to consider a collection agreement with Eagles Account Group. He noted that the terms offered by this company are more beneficial than those offered by the company the city has been utilizing.
He explained, “Currently, the fees that the collection agency charges are taken out of the total bill amount that we’re trying to collect and this instead adds on the fees to the bill amount that we’re trying to collect.”
He added that typically, this service is only required for larger medical and ambulance bills that have gone unpaid where the individual hasn’t been responsive to letters provided by the Clerk-Treasurer’s Office.
The members unanimously approved the collection agreement with Eagles Account Group.
