Culver Community Middle/High School’s new main entrance is just about done. “All glass is in,” Superintendent Karen Shuman told the school board Monday. “All rooms are created. All plumbing is into the nurse’s station. All painting is completed. All furniture has been delivered. And all carpet has been replaced that needed replaced. So at this point, we are just waiting for trim to be finalized and cleaning of the whole zone to make it shine.”
As of Monday’s meeting, Shuman hoped that the updates would be done in time for this evening’s school open house. The project involved building a secure entrance and office area where the school library used to be.
Meanwhile, work continues on the restrooms across from the high school gym. Shuman said that new handicap stalls are in place, and tile work was underway Monday. She said the restrooms are scheduled to be done by mid-October, but school officials are hopeful that the work will wrap up before then. “That will almost complete the amount of money into the bond,” Shuman said. “There will be a little surplus [for] more furniture and then potentially looking at security options and the elementary with the remainder.”
That money came from the proceeds of a bond refinancing a few years ago.
