The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department and emergency responders were called to two separate accidents after midnight today (Wednesday).
Police say 40-year-old Jeffery Lee Yakimicki, of Warsaw, was westbound in the 16,000 block of 9th Road in Marshall County when he lost control of his 1996 Ford pickup and hit a NIPSCO pole and a tree. He was transported for treatment to Memorial Hospital in South Bend by helicopter. The accident remains under investigation.
Deputies were called to State Road 17 and 15B Road in Culver shortly before 4:30 a.m. after a motorcycle driver struck a deer. Michael Bennett told police that he wrecked his 2009 Honda motorcycle and laid it down on its side where it continued to slide several feet.
Bennett reportedly suffered possible broken bones and internal injuries.
