Hoosier Racing Tire Contributes $50,000 to REES Theater Restoration Project

The restoration of Plymouth’s REES Theater got a financial boost Friday. Hoosier Racing Tire announced a $50,000 contribution to the effort, according to a press release from project organizers. It matches a donation from the Plymouth Industrial Development Corporation (PIDCO) this past summer.

The project committee says it’s working to meet an October 31 deadline to qualify for a $300,000 matching grant through the Regional Cities Initiative. Members say that if they succeed, interior renovations could begin quickly. That would put the REES Theater on track for a grand reopening as early as the first quarter of 2020, in time for its 80th anniversary.
