State Treasurer to Visit Marshall County

Indiana State Treasurer Kelly Mitchell will be in Marshall County on Thursday, Aug. 30 as part of a month-long tour of Public Safety Answering Points who utilize Text-to-911 in Indiana.

This is the second year for the Text-to-911 service. During the first year, 173,213 text sessions occurred to and from emergency 911 dispatchers at police agencies.

The Statewide 911 board is currently reviewing and implementing new training opportunities for telecommunicators, or dispatchers.

Treasurer Mitchell will be meeting with dispatchers and communications directors on Thursday at 2:30 p.m. at the Marshall County Sheriff’s Department to learn more about what the 911 board can do to assist them with their current service.
