The Plymouth Community School Corporation will be paying a bit more for school nurses this school year. Under an agreement approved by the school board last week, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center will provide seven registered nurses and two health aides for a cost of nearly $367,000. That’s over $1,700 more than what the school corporation paid last year.
Business Manager Kandi Tinkey told the school board that while the overall cost went up, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center did agree to reduce its administrative fee. She explained that she had a “strong conversation” with them about the corporation losing students and money.
That presumably means the nurses will get a pay increase, although Tinkey stressed that’s out of the school corporation’s control.
