Plymouth Police Warn of Potential Door-to-Door Scam

The Plymouth Police Department is advising residents to be aware of potential scammers going door-to-door.

According to a police report from Plymouth PD, two individuals were in the area and made contact with a woman at her residence. The two men reportedly misrepresented themselves as if they were with her medical alert company.

The report goes on to indicate that the woman let them into her house. The subjects apparently installed a complete home alarm system that she did not request and took the medical alert equipment she was using.

Police noted that the equipment installed came from Alder Security and though that is a legitimate company, the two men misrepresented the reason they were at the house and installed a system that the resident did not request.

If someone uninvited comes to your door claiming to be from a particular company, be very careful and verify their information before allowing them to perform any work. Police added that all door-to-door sales conducted within the city limits have to be registered with the Plymouth City Office.
