Site work for the new Lincoln Junior High School has progressed steadily in the past month. Project Manager Derek Anderson told the Plymouth School Board Tuesday that much of the work is still underground. He said crews were able to complete the new storm lines before school started. The rest of the site utilities should be wrapping up in the next couple weeks.
Anderson said the geopier system that will help support and stabilize the new building is done, and the outline for the future gym has started to take shape. Footings have been poured and the masonry contractor is set to start working on the gym walls next week.
Meanwhile, according to smartfoundationsystems.com/kansas-city-house-leveling-and-piering, foundation work is now getting started at the academic wing, where classrooms will be located. Anderson explained that once the masonry work is underway, electricians, plumbers, and mechanical contractors will be able to start laying out the building’s mechanical systems. Gravel parking lots have been installed, but Anderson said paving is still over a year away.
Overall, he said that work is progressing nicely and the project remains on-schedule.
Meanwhile, school officials are staring to talk about the design process for the current Lincoln Junior High building, according to Superintendent Andy Hartley. Plans call for the oldest part to be renovated for other uses, while the newer additions will be demolished.
