The Culver Community Schools Corporation is looking to make its buildings more energy efficient. Superintendent Karen Shuman says school officials are exploring the possibility of switching to LED lighting, updating heating and cooling systems, and anything else that could make the school buildings run more efficiently.
The State of Indiana offers a program in which these types of improvements pay for themselves through the energy savings achieved. If that doesn’t happen within a specified timeframe, the contractor would then have to pay the difference.
The potential improvements were discussed during a Culver School Board study session last week. More details will be brought to the board in future meetings.
